A Guide to YouTube Monetisation
What is Youtube Monetisation?
Get paid when other people use YOUR music in THEIR videos, automatically.
Huh, sounds like sorcery? How does that work?
It’s a fancy system called Youtube Content ID. We deliver your song to Youtube, which is then analysed by a high-tech algorithm that can recognise every time somebody uses YOUR song as the background music when they upload their newest cat video.
Cool, so how does that make me money?
When Content ID matches your song to a new video that is uploaded, it turns on advertising for that video, which generates income. The more views the video has, the higher the revenue earned. Youtube then split that income with you, as the copyright owner of the song, instead of all that money going to the uploader of the video. GYROstream pays out 85% of the Youtube income generated for your video.
Sounds good, how do I sign up?
Youtube is currently part of our ‘Booster Bundle’ add-on that includes Sync + Licensing, so our sync partners can pitch your music for opportunities such as TV ads, film, online video and other commercial opportunities. You can sign up to the Booster Bundle when on the final page of your album or single submission, or you can add it later from the Sync + Licensing page in your dashboard.
What if I need you to ignore a particular song or video to stop ads showing up?
You can ‘whitelist’ a video or Youtube channel which will block the monetisation process.Send us a support email from your dashboard with the details of your song and we can enable the whitelist through our Youtube account.
